Image Concepts Installs Its Second NUR Fresco™ 1800 Printer as Market Potential Expands
Existing customer returns to NUR Europe for second unit to expand its capacity.
Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, June 27, 2001: Since it began shipping its NUR Fresco™ 1800 wide-format digital production press in the first quarter of 2000, NUR Macroprinters has installed the NUR Fresco 1800 at more than 60 of its customers` sites worldwide. Customers now also have the option of the NUR Fresco™ 3200, the latest addition to the NUR Fresco range, which provides all the existing benefits of the original NUR Fresco in widths up to 3.2 metres.
IMAGE CONCEPTS AG, based in Austria and with production sites throughout Europe, is a leading European supplier of wide-format and superwide graphics. Following the success of its first NUR Fresco 1800 installation in Austria last year, IMAGE CONCEPTS has recently purchased a second NUR Fresco 1800 machine for Megaprint, its Norwegian Subsidiary. The second NUR Fresco 1800 has been installed at Megaprint`s production facility, to spearhead IMAGE CONCEPTS` entry into the Norwegian market.
Josef Ebner of IMAGE CONCEPTS says that the second NUR Fresco 1800 will help the company to develop the market in Scandinavia for high quality, high volume wide-format production. "We have identified additional demand in Norway for wide-format production", he says, "and believe that the NUR Fresco is the best machine on the market to help us increase our business in this sector."
Megaprint works closely with IMAGE CONCEPTS` subsidiary in Sweden in the digital production of large-format prints. Together the two companies represent the largest wide-format production facility in Scandinavia, delivering both to local companies and to major international retail customers, such as IKEA, and outdoor advertisers, including BlowUp in the UK.
Mr Ebner has been impressed with both the speed of the NUR Fresco 1800 and the high quality output which it provides. "Our high level of satisfaction is based on the fact that the NUR Fresco is a well engineered product and we are able to produce high quality images in a high speed mode", he says. "This allows us to work with the NUR Fresco in a profitable way and we are waiting for further successful developments from NUR."
Within days of installing the first NUR Fresco 1800 unit at its principal production site in Obendorf, Austria, IMAGE CONCEPTS used it to successfully print a banner 1.3 km long. The banner was originally displayed at an exhibition in Bozen, Italy. Printed on vinyl, production of the banner took 40 hours, with a further 24 hours spent planning the job.
About the NUR Fresco 1800
The NUR Fresco 1800 is a wide-format production press that provides a digital alternative to conventional screen printing on short and medium run jobs. The NUR Fresco 1800 uses piezo continuous drop-on-demand (CDOD) inkjet technology thereby designed to produce high quality graphics for a wide range of applications. These include point-of-purchase displays, banners, sheet billboards, bus shelter graphics, posters, shopping mall displays, airport terminal displays and many more.
The NUR Fresco 1800 prints on a wide variety of substrates in widths up to 1.83 metres (72 inches). As an indication of its speed, the printer is designed to produce 36 bus shelter displays or 16 eight-sheet posters per hour. Operating costs are kept to a minimum because the machine does not require special substrates or coatings. A further advantage of the machine is that it can be operated in either roll-to-roll or roll-to-sheet mode, thereby offering very high production flexibility.
Another unique feature of the NUR Fresco 1800 is a specially designed, internal heavy-duty drying unit. This integrated drying unit eliminates the need for additional drying equipment while optimising the machine`s overall footprint. Moreover, it is designed to ensure that each sheet dries quickly, saving time in the overall production process.
