Brightcube and Roland Partner On Printer Rental Program for the Art Market

New Rental Plan Lowers Cost-Of-Entry Barrier To Print-On-Demand

EL SEGUNDO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-Nov. 29, 2001--Brightcube, Inc. (OTCBB:BRCU) and Roland DGA Corporation have agreed to partner on a printer rental program that will significantly reduce the initial cost to retailers of implementing the Brightcube Solution(TM), a state of the art print-on-demand system that enables users to produce top quality fine art images in-house.

Brightcube Solution equipped retailers are able to access and print fine art giclee prints instantly, in a variety of sizes and on their choice of substrates, from Brightcube-s extensive online image bank which features the catalogs of Winn-Devon, Portal Publications and Canadian Art Prints and other top fine art publishers. This print-on-demand model vastly expands the individual retailer-s product offerings while at the same time eliminating shipping costs, delays, and unsold inventory.

According to terms of the agreement, qualified Brightcube Solution retailers will be able to rent Roland-s $20,000 Hi-Fi JET PRO FJ-500 wide format printer for just over $300 per month plus a small per print charge. This amount represents exceptional savings to the end-users over typical financing or other leasing programs currently available. The FJ-500 printer features Roland-s V8 variable droplet 8-color technology and is capable of producing prints up to 54" wide at 1440x1440 dpi, making it one of the finest wide-format printers in use today.

"We-re very excited to be working with Brightcube on such an innovative program and pleased that they have recognized the high quality output of the Hi-Fi JET PRO as the ideal solution for printing fine art images from their extensive library," stated Bob Curtis, Roland DGA-s President and C.E.O.

In addition, by automatically handling the image preparation and ICC color profiling tasks that would otherwise require a trained staff, the Brightcube system enables retailers and even artists themselves to literally become art publishers with the ability to do short runs on-demand as well as limited editions.

"I believe that by partnering with an exceptional company like Roland, which is the leader in wide-format printing in the art space, we will not only accelerate placements of the Brightcube Solution, but also establish the Solution as the finest art reproduction system and network in the country. Roland-s commitment to quality and customer service clearly add significant additional value to our product offering," stated Al Marco, Brightcube-s Chief Executive Officer.

This unprecedented alternative to standard long term leasing plans will virtually eliminate the cost of entry barrier and promises to further fuel the explosive growth of print-on-demand in the fine art industry.
