Encad Announces New, Improved Graphic Outdoor Plus (GO+) Pigment Ink For NovaJet Wide-Format Inkjet Printers

Better Colour Vibrancy, Improved Jetting Reliability - Enhanced Image Quality

November 29, 2002 - Encad Inc, a wholly owned subsidiary of Eastman Kodak Company (NYSE:EK), has announced a new improved Graphic Outdoor PLUS (GO+) water-based pigment ink for its NovaJet printers.

The new ink provides more vibrant colours, improved jetting reliability and enhanced image quality. GO+ Ink comes with Encad’s new “Plug and Play” ink cartridge which provides cleaner and easier installation. The new ink will start shipping in December.

“Our customers have been asking us to make improvements to address known limitations of our current Graphic Outdoor GO ink which we introduced five years ago,” said Brad Kruchten, CEO of Encad. “As Encad now has access to Kodak proprietary ink technology, we are able to offer advanced GO+ ink and, once our customers experience see the benefits of this improved ink set, we are confident that they will be happy to make the switch.”

Boasting an increase in colour gamut, the new GO+ ink offers more vibrant colours than GO pigment ink. The vivid colours of GO+ are a result of greater colour density which is most noticeable when printing yellow, red and green.

“Using Kodak proprietary nano-particle milling technology, GO+ ink contains much smaller pigment particles resulting in improved optical clarity and a wider colour gamut,” explains Dr Alistair Goulden, European Product Manager.

“The ink also uses a state of the art formulation that enables higher ink laydowns, resulting in increased colour density.” These extra features provide the end-user with the ability to match critical colours like those used in corporate logos and produce more eye-catching output.

Using such small pigment particulates improves the reliability of the jets and print head life resulting in even lower cost of ownership across the ENCAD printer range. Its compatibility with the entire Encad printer family also simplifies ordering and reduces inventory for customers with more than one printer model.

The new GO+ offers exceptional lightfastness and water-resistant outdoor durability making it a brilliant choice for printing indoor and outdoor signs, banners and posters, particularly when supported by the unique Performance Guarantee for Kodak Wide-Format Inkjet Media.

GO+ will be available in both four and eight colour ink sets. All GO+ ink shipments come with the new and improved "Plug and Play" ink cartridge, which is cleaner and easier to install. Each GO+ cartridge is shipped with a slight vacuum, that tealases when the installation instructions are followed remocing the need for pre-priming. Jetting reliability is extended producing improved print head productivity giving reliable results even on long unattended print runs.
