Encad Appoints New Chief Technical Officer.
SAN DIEGO, CA, March 30—Encad, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Eastman Kodak Company (NYSE: EK), announced today the appointment of Michael A. Puyot, as Chief Technical Officer and Vice President of Engineering reporting to Encad’s CEO, Barry Lathan.
Puyot, 44, has considerable experience in wide format and printer commercialization. Prior to joining Encad, Puyot held the position of Ink Strategist – Specialty Printing Systems, at Hewlett-Packard Co., where he led a cross functional team to determine market and requirements for inks in industrial applications. Puyot began his career at HP in 1981as R&D engineer, and has held positions with increasing responsibility in various HP businesses, including Project Manager for their fist color large format printer and Section Manager in the Graphics Market of the Large Format Printer Group.
“With the launch of the NovaJet 1000i, Encad has re-emerged as a leader in the wide-format market,” said Lathan. “Mike’s technical strength and management skills combined with his experience and knowledge of the wide-format industry make him an excellent choice as Encad’s Chief Technical Officer. Puyot was Printer Integration Manager at Phogenix Imaging, the joint venture formed by Kodak and HP to develop digital inkjet photofinishing mini-labs. Puyot served as a member of the Technology Board between Phogenix, HP and Kodak.
Puyot received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Irvine and his Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering at Stanford University.
Puyot replaces Peter Rudak, who has accepted the position of Chief Technical Officer and Vice President, Commercial Printing, at Eastman Kodak Company. Rudak will report to James Langley, President Commercial Printing and Senior Vice President, Kodak. In his new role, Rudak will manage R&D strategy and identify and develop appropriate technologies across all product platforms within Commercial Printing.
