PressVu® UV used to print graphics for worldwide launch of Dior perfume - VUTEk® PressVu® UV 200/600 aids record sales for Corlab.

Le Groupe Corlab of Montreal, Canada, has utilized its new VUTEk® PressVu® UV 200/600-s ability to print consistently and directly onto a range of different substrates, for the production of in-store graphics for the worldwide launch of Dior’s new perfume, Chris 1947.

Streamlining production and enabling Corlab to realize new business opportunities, the installation of its new PressVu® UV 200/600 in July 2004, was instrumental in enabling the Canadian digital printer and commercial photolab to achieve record end of year sales.

Launched for the first time at -The Bay Store- retail outlet in Toronto, Corlab used its PressVu® UV to print 40 in-store promotional and point of sale items for Dior’s new, Chris 1947 perfume. Designed to create maximum impact, Corlab printed a host of promotional applications including two 16ft x 4ft vinyl banners, installed on the walls of the famous department store. Featuring bright colors and high quality photographic images, the graphics gained significant customer praise, and enabled Dior to drive sales and kick-off its worldwide campaign with a bang.

In completing the Dior job, one of Corlab’s biggest challenges was to ensure that its graphics met with Dior’s strict corporate identity guidelines. It solved this by utilizing the PressVu® UV-s six-color capability, to maintain color accuracy and photographic resolution across a variety of substrates including card for POP items, vinyl for wall banners and styrene and Gator Foam for directional graphics.

Pierre Duchaine, Vice President of Sales for Le Groupe Corlab, comments, ‘Our reputation for consistent color was key to us winning this job. We were employed by Canadian advertising agency, Graphis, who approached us having heard about our PressVu® UV-s quality and productivity benefits.

‘Our brief was to produce a range of applications on a variety of substrates and sizes - all without variation in output appearance. With our PressVu® UV, we took the job on with the confidence that we could do justice to the high profile brand, turning it around in record time.

‘We believe that we exceeded Dior-s expectations, provided promotional materials that reflected its market leading position, and set the standard for all future Dior in-store graphics. We have since won many new contracts on the back of this job.’

Corlab accredits much of its companies- recent success to the installation of its VUTEk® flatbed printer. Allowing it to print directly onto rigid and flexible substrates, the PressVu® UV 200/600 has effectively eradicated the time consuming process of mounting graphics, and enabled Corlab to streamline its production workflow. Combined with its ability to generate business in new markets, Corlab has utilized its PressVu® UV’s many benefits to double its turnover in less than one year.

Pierre comments, ‘We now provide the same high quality work, but faster and much more competitively. As such, we have implemented a new pricing structure that has enabled us to win more business and broaden our horizons.’

In 1972, Le Groupe Corlab was established as a traditional commercial photoloab. In 1996 it diversified into digital printing with the purchase of a VUTEk® UltraVu® 2360 EC - Since then it has not looked back.

Today, Corlab employs 52 people at its Montreal premises. As one of Canada’s leading print houses and commercial photolabs, it provides a range of services including scanning and prepress, photographic printing, vehicle graphics, banners, murals, floor graphics and point of sale materials.

Pierre concludes, ‘The VUTEk® PressVu® UV 200/600 is an unbelievable workhorse - We run our machine twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week without any problems. The PressVu® UV has given us the confidence to take on new jobs in new markets, extending our service offering and providing the potential to really grow the business.’
