HP Helps Sign Design Improve Quality and Productivity with New HP Scitex LX800 Printer.
# Signage from HP latex printer helps sports apparel giant make big impression on top basketball recruit
PALO ALTO, Calif., Dec. 20, 2010 – Shortly after installing one of the first HP Scitex LX800 large-format printers on the market, Sign Design Inc. was using it to help a major sports apparel company attract a top National Basketball Association (NBA) draft pick to its ranks.
Sign Design, a full-service custom sign company based in Brockton, Mass., said the HP Latex printer was a natural fit for a major brand seeking new ways to differentiate itself to an important recruit. In preparation for a visit from the NBA recruit, Sign Design outfitted the company’s headquarters with more than 3,000 square feet of signage featuring the new star, including a 30 x 60-foot banner in the gym, window film, temporary wall graphics throughout corridors and meeting rooms and colorful presentation boards.
The HP Scitex LX800 Printer was ideal for the project because of its high print quality and ability to produce odorless(1) prints with HP Latex Inks. By the end of the meeting the customer had signed a multiyear endorsement contract with the recruit, thanks in part to the impressive graphics throughout the facility.
HP is the only company that offers large-format printers with Latex Ink technology. Launched in May, the HP Scitex LX800 Printer is the largest and highest-performance HP Latex Ink system available, setting a new image-quality standard for the industrial large-format market.
“Overall, the HP Scitex LX800 Printer has proven to be a great addition for us because the quality is unbelievable,” said Ron Ferrigno, general manager, Sign Design. “We trust HP from a service standpoint and the reduced environmental impact of the technology is favorable to our employees and customers.”
Increased quality and productivity with HP Latex Printing Technologies
Companies such as Sign Design are seeing a significant improvement in the quality and productivity they can offer customers by using the HP Scitex LX800 Printer. In addition to the project for the sports apparel company, Sign Design has secured several new business opportunities, such as producing 8,000 square feet of banners for a national collegiate apparel brand.
“With the HP Scitex LX800 Printer, HP offers industrial customers a high-quality alternative to solvent technologies and helps companies boost their productivity,” said Jan Riecher, vice president and general manager, Graphics Solutions Business – Americas, HP. “Sign Design is a key example of how customers can use HP large-format printing to reach new markets and create standout print experiences for brand owners.”
At 3.2 meters (126 inches) in length, the HP Scitex LX800 Printer expands HP Latex Printing Technologies to the industrial large-format market. Featuring roll-to-free fall, roll-to-collector and dual-roll (up to two 1.52-meter/60-inch rolls) capabilities, the new system allows customers to print and finish jobs simultaneously. The HP Scitex LX800 Printer also produces high-quality output with up to 1,200 dpi resolution at production speeds up to 88 m²/hr. (947 ft²/hr.) for outdoor billboards and 45 m²/hr. (484 ft²/hr.) for indoor applications.
